Booking a ticket

When you book a slot, I collect your name and email address. I use this to manage the open day - sending your confirmation and tickets, checking you in on the day, and contacting you if something changes about your slot. If you tick the box to hear about future open days, I'll add your email to my mailing list too.

I keep a record of past bookings so I can recognise returning visitors and see how ticket sales compare between events - I don't use it for anything beyond that.

Paying for tickets

Payments are handled entirely by Stripe. I never see or store your card details - Stripe processes the payment and tells me whether it succeeded.

Signing up to the newsletter

If you sign up to hear about future open days (on this site or at the bottom of any page), your email address is stored by Mailchimp, who send the newsletter on my behalf. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email they send.

Getting in touch

If you use the contact form, your name, email and message are sent straight to my inbox by email. I don't keep a separate database of messages - just whatever's in my inbox.

Looking up your tickets

If you use "Find my tickets", I look up bookings under the email you enter and, if I find any, email your ticket links to that address. I don't tell you either way if nothing's found, so a booking can't be looked up by someone who doesn't already know the email it was made under.

Website analytics

I use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used - which pages people visit, and roughly how many visitors I get. It doesn't identify you personally. Google's own privacy policy explains what they do with this data.

How long I keep things

I keep booking and contact records for as long as is reasonably useful for running the railway and its accounts - I don't have a fixed deletion schedule, but I'm happy to delete your data on request (see below).

Your rights

Under Jersey's Data Protection Law, you can ask what I hold about you, ask me to correct or delete it, or ask me to stop using it. Just get in touch and I'll sort it out.
