A G Scale Garden Railway in Jersey
Since 2021, a childhood dream of model railways and a love of gardening have grown into a working G Scale (1:22.5) layout - trains travel through tunnels, over the waterfall, and around the pond, in the heart of St. Mary.
A childhood hobby, finally with room to grow
Model railways were a childhood fixture long before there was a garden to put one in. That changed once I moved into this house - what began as a single loop of track has grown, season by season, into a full layout with tunnels, bridges, and a run around the pond.
Construction began in August 2021, and the whole line runs on more than a tonne of Jersey granite - trains were testing the track by March 2022.
It's still not really finished - I don't think a garden railway ever is. Now I open the garden a handful of times a year so you can walk the whole line, and every ticket, in full, goes to charity.

Since 2022What to expect on a visit
On the dayStep through the gate and you're on a G-scale railway that winds through a St Mary back garden, past different buildings and miniature scenes, and over bridges. You'll see multiple locos moving around the railway at once so there is always something to look at. Bring the kids, bring a camera, and expect to have a lot of fun peering into tunnels, following trains and finding all those little details. Teas and cakes are sold in the "Railway Cafe" to keep you refreshed while you chat to volunteers about the layout. Every penny raised on the day goes straight to that Open Day's chosen charity.
