A Beginning – An Adventure in G-Gauge Garden Railways

The first post on this site - what it's for, and why the real garden railway is still a few years away.

So what is the intention of the site? Candidly, it's simply an opportunity for me to share my adventure reengaging in a hobby I loved as a kid. It's a little place on the internet to indulge my successes (my kitbash went alright!) and share the mistakes (damn, I blew up a decoder). Links to interesting reads, knowledgable communities and friendly local model stores will be provided as I discover them.

The HSBA Garden Railway in its full form is still a few years away when my fiancé and I settle down somewhere with an actual garden. Currently, living in an apartment in Berlin is not quite the canvas for the garden railway of our dreams. Time, however, does give me the opportunity to dip into different parts of the hobby so I'm more prepared for the day the actual permanent way is laid.

In the short term, I'll be converting a fleet of locomotives (some a year old, some 30 years old) and a range of accessories. On top of that, I've had some ideas for kit-bashing (modifying) some rolling stock I've acquired in Germany.

With that, I welcome you dear reader to a journey that no doubt will be fun (for me at least!)
